THE OLD WEBSITE AND HOW TO GET THERE
I managed to get the old website into my public folder on mac.com. Here are the instructions for getting there if you are logging on with a Macintosh computer. The old site seems to still work very well.

Connecting to someone's Public folder using a Mac:

You can open a .Mac member's Public folder to see and copy files.

To access someone's Public folder, you need to know the person's member name and Public folder password (if the Public folder is password-protected).

To open someone's Public folder:

If you're using Mac OS X version 10.1 or later, choose Connect To Server from the Finder's Go menu and type http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public (where "membername" is the person's .Mac member name). If the Public folder is protected with a password, type "public" in the username field and type the Public folder password in the password field.

If you're using Mac OS 9.x, choose Chooser from the Apple menu, then click AppleShare. Click the Server IP Address button, type "idisk.mac.com" in the Server Address field, then click Connect. Type the other user's member name and the user's Public folder password, then click Connect. If the user doesn't have a Public folder password, type "public" in the Password field. Select the user's iDisk and click OK.

My member name is jonsan and my public folder is not password protected. If you do need a password to get into it, I think you can type in "public" (without the quotes) and that will work.

When you get there, you will see a folder entitled "Gateley_site". Open that and you will see a lot of icons. The only one you need to click on is the one that says "index". That will open the old website and you can navigate throughout the site from the links that are on that page.

For accessing the public folder using anything other than a Mac, see below.
Connecting to someone's Public folder using Windows:

You can open a .Mac member's Public folder to see and copy files.

To access someone's Public folder, you need to know the person's member name and Public folder password (if the Public folder is password-protected).

To open someone's Public folder:

If you're using Windows XP, use iDisk Utility for Windows to open someone's Public folder. To download iDisk Utility for Windows, go to www.mac.com, click the iDisk icon, and then click the iDisk Utility download link.

If you're using Windows 2000, open My Computer, choose Map Network Drive from the Tools menu, then click "Web folder or FTP site." Enter the following as the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public? (where "membername" is the other person's .Mac member name).

If you're using Windows 98, open My Computer, double-click the Web Folders icon, then double-click Add Web Folder. Enter the following as the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public? (where "membername" is the other person's .Mac member name).

ALLIGATOR REALTY: On the old website you will find mention of Alligator Realty and its concept. It never got beyond the "concept" stage. But if it had, we would have had a "Gatorism" page where you, too, could become rich and famous. People would submit gatorisms and, if they were chosen, you would receive a brand new $1 bill and credit, by name and city, for the Gatorism. Some of the Gatorisms already submitted are:
"You can't beat the Gators and that's no Croc."
"Are you agent enough to wear the Gator hat?"
"You can trust the Gator people."
"If you can't trust the Gator people, who can you trust?"
"Gateley's Gators"
"The Gator People won't put the bite on you."
"The Gator People won't cost you an arm and a leg."
"We won't sell you an alligator property."
"We'll work our tail off for you."
"Put a Gator in your tank."
"Get a Gator on your side."
"Home of the big, toothy smile."
"Try 'Gaitor-Aid'."
"A Gator is always happy to see you."
"Take a plunge with a Gator."
Ah well, it was a thought!
